Serenity In Solutions is the product of group therapy class in my Master program. We had to create a therapy group and this is the name that came to me. I felt strongly that this name was destined for me. It meant something powerful to me. It was a truth. A simple yet complicated one. Our serenity comes from & is dependent on, our solutions. 7 years down the road I started my private practice journey with that name in my heart and the intention of guiding as many people as I can into their own place of serenity.

My goal is to guide you into your place of peace. To help you discover the roots tying you down and develop the skills to set yourself free!  As a lover of natural sciences, especially neurobiology & quantum biology , I spend a LOT of time consuming research and attending continuing education courses. Growing up in the addiction world I experienced the pride in my calling but also witnessed the legalized stigma addiction professionals experience. Addiction is never a singular problem. It's often the consequence that just felt like a solution at one time. It doesn't matter if the addiction is to a external chemical (alcohol/drugs) or internal chemical (self-harm/sex), it's the same biological process. My approach is to look at your whole health and work on addressing any biological and social risk factors we may find.

For those of us in recovery from addictions and/or mental illness, I believe in a recovery maintenance approach, which is a managed care style akin to a doctor monitoring high blood pressure. Recovery requires varying degrees of intensity of services, as well as needs being sufficiently met in all areas of your life. If you notice yourself slipping off track or have had folks asking you if you're "ok?", it's probably time for a tune up! Maybe some junk was lingering under the surface waiting for the imperfect time to show up.

We all got shit we deal with right? Done shit, seen some shit, live in a shit show and somehow we survive. Sometimes we can move through these fairly well, other times we need some help. And that's ok!! We can't always talk about everything we need to with our family or friends. Counseling allows you to continue to live your life, while also working on healing and release yourself from the shit left behind (often by others) and the shit that's piled up.
